History
It may be hard to believe now, but the company started out weaving looms under the name Suzuki Loom Works in 1909. It saw great success but founder Michio Suzuki wanted to diversify their products. They manufactured their first car in 1937, which also went on to become very popular.
In the aftermath of World War II, Japanese people wanted more affordable personal transportation. In 1952, Suzuki produced a bicycle with a motor. Riders had the option of using pedals with or without the engine as well as cruising on the engine alone. Once again, the company tasted success and produced more and more of these motorized cycles.
By 1954, Suzuki was producing 6,000 motorcycles per month and had changed its name to Suzuki Motor Co. Ltd. They entered the racing world in 1960 and nabbed the 15th, 16th and 18th place in the Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy) races. In 1982, they won first place in seven consecutive events.
Now Suzuki manufactures motorcycles, cars, four-wheel drive vehicles, ATVs, outboard marine engines and wheelchairs. Their motorcycles are the top of the line in every category; some are made to easily dominate race tracks while others are affordable commuting options.
Types of Bikes
Suzuki Motocross bikes are their strong suit. These machines are built on the legacy of racing while remaining comfortable for new riders. With an agile chassis and a powerful engine, these motorcycles have a light and compact frame that helps riders stay nimble on the track. Despite achieving top speeds, they can be brought to a quick halt with their highly responsive brakes.
If you’re looking for fast speeds on city roads, try their cruisers. These Suzuki bikes come in a number of body styles so you can get the kind of look you want. For great performance and power, each motorcycle is equipped with a massive V-twin engine.
